In these courses, teenagers get an opportunity to see the world differently, while learning French in a stimulating class environment with course material especially designed for teenagers. We discuss age-appropriate topics of interest, and gain exposure to new ideas through activity and competency-based learning.

Alliance Française de Colombo has decided to organize a series of seminars for the students sitting for French at the GCE AL examination in November 2024. This seminar focuses on literature, comprehension, grammar, translation, and writing, all the skills you need to feel comfortable during the examination.

As the only official French language and Cultural centre in Colombo affiliated to the Embassy of France and the Foundation Alliance Française in Paris, AF de Colombo takes every opportunity to promote and maintain a high standard in French.

Session 1 – 11th of August – Grammar (Deadline – 8th of August 2024)

Session 2 – 1st of September – French Literature (Deadline – 29th of August 2024)

Session 3 – 29th of September – Writing (Deadline – 26th of September 2024)

Session 4 – 20th of October – Comprehension and Translation (Deadline – 17th of October 2024)

Personalised individual lessons can be organised for adults, teenagers, children at all levels of proficiency. Lessons may be taken one-on-one or in groups of two to three.

Choose to learn on-site at Alliance Française or office, or online.
For classes not held at the Alliance Française campus, extra fees may apply.

Among our very popular courses, we propose general French, conversation workshops, French for business, preparation of DELF-DALF, TEF, London and National O.L., A.L., etc.

The course content can be determined according to student’s requirements.
**Minimum duration for on-site lessons (at AF or outside AF premises[for corporate classes]) : 2 hours per session.
**Minimum duration for online lessons: 1 hour per session

Placement Tests

  1. If you have studied French before joining the Alliance Française, a placement test guarantees that you will start your course at the appropriate French level. You will therefore not lose any of your valuable language training time. Any prospective student, who is not a complete beginner, is required to take a placement test to determine the current French level. (This does not apply to individual lessons.)
  2. Our online or on-site test will assess your reading and writing and grammar skills (60 minutes)
  3. A Zoom or face-to-face interview will assess your listening and speaking skills (10 min)

Placement test days on-site:

Saturday: January 4th

  • On-site paper: 09:00 – 10:00
  • Speaking test: 10:15 onwards, per the personalized email sent to the candidate.

*You will receive your personalized email before 17:30, the day before your test.

Placement test fee: Rs.2,100/-.
