🎸The Volkmann/Jarret/Andrzejewski Trio was founded in 2023 as Volkmann had carte blanche for a new line-up at the Hanover Jazz Festival. The trio plays a convincing mixture of simple folk songs and improvised sound collages. All of the band members are instrumentalists as well as outstanding composers and have already written for large formations. In the trio’s interplay, this knowledge of instrumentation and form is condensed into an energetic, yet fragile performance that is deeply emotional.
🥁The idea of the project is therefore to depict playful elegance in the music and, above all, to take the audience on an energetic, flowing journey.
Cleo, a six-year-old, adores her nanny Gloria, who has cared for her since birth. When Gloria needs to return to Cape Verde to be with her children, Cleo asks her to promise they’ll reunite soon. Gloria invites Cleo to spend one last summer with her family on her island.
🎞️Once, two boys were brought up as brothers by the same woman: Azur, the blonde son of the castellan, and Asmar, the dark-haired son of the nurse. After a harsh separation, Azur, motivated by stories of the Fairy of the Djins, sets off on a journey to find her. Now adults, the two foster brothers are on their own quests for the Fairy, navigating magical realms filled with both peril and marvels.
