Les Elles des Jeux- Exhibition

The National Sports Museum presents its major exhibition in connection with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, inviting you to discover Les Elles des Jeux, which allows you to measure the spectacular progress made in more than 130 years, from the virtual exclusion of women to the fight for parity.

It will be on display at the Alliance Française de Colombo from the 03rd till the 14th of September.

The birth of the Drum Beat – Tikiri & Co

🌞 Legend says that Maestro Panchasika, as a 6-day old infant demi God, invented the traditional drum which is used in Sri Lankan dance and music to this day.

Bonjour Cinema

The French animation/ family film “La fameuse invasion des ours en Sicile” is about bears who invade the land of men who have kidnapped the son of the king of bears. Do come to the Alliance Française de Colombo with your families on Saturday the 13th of July at 3.00pm for the screening of this month’s Cine-Club | Kids. 

Visual Storytelling Workshop

Aadhithya Jayaseelan from Studio Kayamai conducts a visual storytelling workshop on Saturday the 27th of July from 10.00am to 01.00pm, based on her new clothing collection inspired by her ancestors and her motherland. She focuses on the concepts of history, memory, creativity and expression in getting the participants to create a piece inspired by their own memories and histories, on paper and other materials. The workshop is open to anyone with an artistic background.

Sports Friendly- the Field of Diversity

SeaSisters- “Breaking Barriers, Making Waves”

The French photographer Emilien Buffard’s photographic project on inclusivity in sport, “Sport Friendly: The Field of Diversity” extends to Sri Lanka through this exhibition at the Alliance Française de Colombo.

It portrays the SeaSisters, a group of local female surfers based in Weligama, Sri Lanka, who break the boundaries set by their backgrounds, society and the surfing eco-system as they empower local women and girls to swim and surf. 

Through the creative collaboration of the photographer Munira Mutaher, the exhibition will be launched on Saturday the 29th of June at 4.00pm with a panel discussion that highlights how SeaSisters exemplify the concept of the inclusivity in sports. 

It will be on display from the 29th of June till the 20th of July from 9.00am to 5.30pm at the Alliance Française de Colombo.

E X H I B I T I O N  – The Field of Diversity | Sea Sisters- “Breaking Barriers, Making Waves

📸 Alliance Française de Colombo and the Embassy of France take part in the international photography project by the French photographer Emilien Buffard , “Sport Friendly: The Field of Diversity” that seeks to redefine the classic values of sport, affirming that, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, gender or physical or social condition, there is a place for everyone in the realm of sports. 

🏄‍♀️ The exhibition portrays the SeaSisters whose initiative is to break the boundaries set by their backgrounds, society and the surfing eco-system by empowering local women and girls to swim and surf. 

🤝Through the creative collaboration of the Sri Lankan photographer Munira Mutaher , the homogeneous photographic portraits of the SeaSisters are the submission from Sri Lankan to this global photographic project.  

📆The exhibition will be launched on Saturday the 29th of June with a panel discussion that highlights how SeaSisters exemplify the concept of the inclusivity in sports.

It is on display at the Alliance Française de Colombo from the 29th of June till the 20th of July from 9.00am till 5.30pm
