This month’s CINÉ-CLUB screens the 2022 French drama film “Goutte d’Or” which is about the protagonist Ramsès, a psychic from the Goutte d’Or neighbourhood in Paris. He encounters a group of teenage refugees who terrorises the locals of his neighbourhood, until one day, he experiences a vision.

The French artist Jyotsna Liyanaratne and the Sri Lankan artist Dinuka Chamikara Perera facilitate a dance workshop that encounters dances in circles, traditional and contemporary dance from different cultures, bringing the strength of the circle, dance mandalas and the history of symbolic gestures.

The Alliance Française de Colombo is delighted to welcome “Prélude à Swarupaya”, a dance performance by the French artist Jyotsna Liyanaratne and the Sri Lankan artist Dinuka Chamikara Perera. The performance will be the first stage of the new creative project in progress of the Souffle de Dance company. It will be a testimony of the meeting between the two French and Sri Lankan artists.

The band “French Connection” will be performing a selection of international rock, pop and soul covers with a French touch at the Alliance Française de Colombo.

As part of Francophonie 2024, a Francophonie Film Festival will be presented from 21st to 23rd of March and will gather 8 countries members of the Francophonie.
Francophonie brings together over 321 million French speakers from around the world. The International Francophonie Day is organized every year around the 20th of March to celebrate the diversity of the French language and the French-speaking world.
To celebrate Francophonie 2024 in Sri Lanka, the Francophonie Film Festival will take place from 21st to 23rd of March at Alliance Française de Colombo (11 Barnes Place, Colombo 7) and will feature 8 films/ documentaries from countries around the globe members of the Francophonie: Belgium, Canada, Egypt, France, Romania, Switzerland, Tunisia, Vietnam. All movies will be screened with English subtitles and entrance is free.
A total of 8 movies of all genres will be shown, which will illustrate the diversity and richness of Francophonie cultures: from drama to comedy, to documentary, short-movie and animated movie.

It is with pleasure that the Alliance Française de Colombo organizes “la fête de la Francophonie” hosting the presentations by the Alliance Française students, on Saturday the 23rd of March from 9.30 to 11.30am where the students are given an opportunity to display their French language skills and to engage in interesting activities as part of the Francophonie celebrations.
The Alliance Française de Colombo welcomes the French langauge students and teachers from Sri Lankan schools to take part in “la journée de la Francophonie” (The day of Francophonie” to celebrate the experience of learning the French langauge on the 20th of March. We have in store an array of engaging activities based on la Francophonie, the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic games, Campus France consultations as well as other creative and literary workshops.
